I am thrilled to announce the launch of the first series of Custom Sneakers by me! Juck click on the image and buy a pair! More to come!
July 15, 2008:
A little after my last news posting, I got and started a great new job at National A-1 Internet as a full-time web and graphic designer.
Currently, I'm still pursuing a few projects, one being a book of work created by me over the past few years. It will be incredibly limited to about 25 - 50 copies, maybe less, during the first printing since there are mainly promotional items... and I'm making them myself.
Make sure you check out my blog, "Larry West Sketch Book". I'll be updating it ofter with new sketches, projects, etc, and it's worth seeing if for no other reason than to see the creative process.
Finally, a book I've been working on, "Monsters in My Head", still isn't done. It's on hold for a while due to a few issues.
April 21, 2008:
I am VERY pleased to announce that today I have put up for auction prints of my most recent series, "Your Candidate Sucks"! The reason I'm so pleased is because I am donating 20% of the money from each sale to the Alzheimer's Association National Office! My grandmother currently suffers from this disease and I am more than willing to donate money to help fight this horrible disease!
CLICK ON AN IMAGE TO GET TO THE AUCTION!

Each print has an opening bid of $40, and right now, I won't make a dime from this. All the money from the base price goes straight to the cost of having these printed. I am serious when I say I want to help these charities! They all measure 24" x 30" and will be printed on slightly larger stock upon request.
Finally, I am selling the lot of all three pieces for $120, again at cost. 20% of the money raised will be donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, my favorite charity.
They defend First Amendment rights for artists, and I am more than ready to support them!

I'm just glad everyone on here can agree that, while you may not like all the candidates, at least they can do some good by helping out some great causes!
Bid now, spread the word, repost this thing, and help out some great causes!!!!!!
April 16, 2008:
To say I'm busy is an understatement. I'm taking some time out to announce the new pro-Democracy and Get the Vote Out Effort. Within the past few months, Shepard Fairey has come out with a new series of pieces based on Obama. Myself? I hate all the people running:
There is a distressed version of each image that I'll post later. Each image posted now links to a larger version. BUY THE POSTERS AT ZAZZLE.COM.
Over the weekend, I will start holding auctions on all three pieces. Each auction will see at least 50% GO TO CHARITY! You read right, half the money goes to a good cause! Each poster will be hand silk-screened approximently 50 times, and since I assume only 5 of each run will come out good since I'm not good at silk-screening, we'll see what happens. No posters will be silk-screened before the auction, only because the money from the auction will help pay for all the supplies.
That is all for now, look for more in the next few days!
March 22, 2008:
OK, I'm working on a lot of new projects, namely in terms of merchandising. I have some new pieces of art in the work, as well as a ton of comissions. I'm working on a new book called "Monsters in My Head" which should be coming out soon.
I'm also in the process of developing a lot of new services and, just like when you go to McDonalds, there will be Value Meals... er, I mean, "Value Packs". I have had one planned for a LONG time, at least since the last web site revamp in September, and I should have an announcement within the week.
I plan on selling Cellphone Wallpapers. Should be coming soon! I have a lot of pieces just basically ready to go out there that I already have on my own phone.
There is a new line of clothing that I plan on coming out with. The difference from what I have already? It will all be done BY HAND! As an added bit of interest, all U.S. orders will be done through a new internet paying service. I will have more later.
March 2, 2008:

Ah, life. It is a weird and mysterious thing. One day you're mourning, another you're celebrating. One day you're wondering how you're going to pay your bills, the next you're graduating college and spending your summer doing things you never thought possible. Next thing you know, you're running for mayor of the 6th largest city in America and wondering just what you're going to do in case it doesn't turn out good.
That said, you're pretty much caught up to speed. This site has FINALLY been updated! I haven't touched this place since at least March of 2006, and it was largely because my Senior Year was wrapping up and I couldn't. After that... well, life.
This site is being built in at least 90% CSS. I'm very proud of that, and I will be using mostly CSS for all my websites in the future. It's weird... I spent nearly my entire "Web Life" using HTML. In fact, my first web sites ever had me writing out HTML by hand until I finally got Dreamweaver 5 years ago. I'm very proud of this web site and feel it's one of the best I've done in years!
Well, sit back and enjoy the site! News about various new projects will be posted as it happens, and that's about it!
November 20, 2005:
OK, just got back from NERDCON 2005! It was a great show, too! Here are some photos:

LOOK! It's me at the booth! KICK ASS! And look at this wonderful set-up!
YEP! That's a lot of great looking prints! People were shocked that the Black & White Prints were only 50 Cents! The color one's were $5, but they also did really well! Not a single print left that table that wasn't signed! So if you have one not signed, you suck! Stealer!
LARRY WEST IN TROUBLE FOR CORRUPTING NATIONS YOUTH!
This photo was taken by me at my booth. Someone was dumb enough to leave their 8-year-old girl right at my table! Folks, you've seen what I was selling. It wasn't a smart thing to do! The girl, who's mother had left her there to look at my laptop, wound up... well, the photo speaks for itself:

Me and all my fellow dealers all had a good laugh about it! She wound up going up to the full-color display and ripping the black CENSORED bar that was covering the nipples. I tried to stop her, though. So if the mother, who bought nothing and didn't even take a business card, is reading this... If you daughter is traumatized, it's your own damn fault!
October 2, 2005:
Hello, I'm Larry West and welcome to the web site! You like it? I hope so, I just busted my ass in Dreamweaver and Photoshop to get it done over days and nights. The site is finished, and now you can treat it just as I expect you to; with mild interest and a bitter hatred at the fact that someone is spending his life drawing for... well, not a living. Trust me, when your starting out like I am, you earn anything but a living.
I'm sure a lot of you who did enjoy this site back when it was actually a viable source of information and the headquarters of my global empire what has happened since. Well, I had, or should I say, have my own radio show that comes on whenever I feel like doing it. I got a job as a janitor after quitting my job in retail. Trust me, it's more fun to clean up after people then to deal with them sometimes. And in retail, you meet a lot of idiots. I rather clean up after them than to meet them; at least I can respect them by thinking they're at least smart.
But the main thing that happened is my mother passed away right as soon as my summer vacation started. Not an easy thing, to be sure, especially when they don't tell you for 2 weeks when you need to pick up the body. I now have a healthy skepticism on the hospital system, as well as nursing homes. Simply put, they can not be trusted as far as you can throw their CEO's. I've gotten a lot of comments about it, but the best thing to say is this; I loved her, she was a great woman, and it sucks that she's gone. I take cash for no apparent reason, so if you want, do so. I will use it to.. well, maybe get some food. A root beer would be nice.
The main thing right now, though, is that your here. Your here because you like my artwork, and if your a woman, you find me interesting and attractive. At least, I pray to some merciful god you are. And if your here from Something Awful.com, it's about damn time! I think this paragraph alone makes me an Awful Link of the Day, but then again, maybe not. It's a great site if you've never been there, so check them out.
Thanks for coming to Morise Comics.com!
September 29, 2005:
Parts of the site have been re-launched after I worked hard re-tooling it. Enjoy!
June 13, 2004:
OK, I'm going to make some fun of myself. No one has asked this, and people were sick of me plugging my book, and I decided to stop until the book is done and ready to go out. And I'm being completely honest when I say I have done everything and a half to get the book done. I swore to have an ashcan out, and I swore to have a finish out shortly after that. So why nothing? For those not keeping track, my mother has been fatally ill. There was talk of letting her go in peace a few weeks ago and I have yet to allow it to happen. You see, despite what they say, it isn't always God that determines when you die; it may just be someone you know. At any rate, the whole thing was a giant mess for me, turning into a quagmire that I can't get out of. This has done nothing but HELPED my book. Of course, that help is a mixed blessing. Sure, it has given me a lot of anger to get out my system, as well as a lot of energy, but that comes at the price of many things, including my mother, my health, and at this rate.. my house. Yes, they want to take my house. But, thanks to my grandmother, the house may remain mine if I take certain actions as soon as I can. That, after my mother, is my biggest burden right now, so that will leave me with time to work on the book. I should mention the other projects I'm working on right now. First and foremost, I now have a new day job. It's at a music store, FYE, in the Gallery Mall in Philadelphia. If you're ever in the area, feel free to talk to me and hang out. Unless I have 50 other people to help, I'll be happy to. My second project is getting my current mayor out of office. That mayor is John Street, and he is a BUM! He has openly said he accepts bribes, all the while he takes massive chunks out of the budget for the Fire department, the arts, recreation, and ALL funding to the Philadelphia Museum of Arts, I'm ready to do anything I can to get rid of him. Along with that, he turned down a million dollars to return LOVE Park into a skateboarder-friendly area, double, if not triple, the present Recreation budget. Most notably to earn extra cash, I've made t-shirts that I'm selling to local skateboard shops. So far, I've had an order for, get this, 20 SHIRTS! A GREAT DEAL! I get to keep all the profits and people know that Mayor Street is "Not MY Mayor". My third project is "Comics Against Bush, Issue #1" It's a take on Fat Mike of NOFX's "Rock Against Bush, Vol. 1", where he took 24 artist and made a CD. All of which went to promoting the idea of getting Bush out of office. It's the same deal here where NO ONE is making a cent. All contributors will vote on which anti-Bush organization gets a donation of the profits from the book (About $1 a book). So far, I have about 10 people, only half of which are artist. I am still accepting applications. And that's it. On top of all that, I am still working hard on my book. I've re-started drawing the 2nd issue, I'm still trying to letter my second issue (Which is hard, since I now need some new software), and everything is going OK. So with that, I will talk to all of you later! ROCK HARD AND LIVE FAST!-Larry
My mother, Judith West, has suffered an aneurysm and is incredibly sick as I write this. All this is explained in a series of message board posts made. Here are a few: 3/12/04 At only age 56, my mother is likely to die. She suffered what very well may have been a brain aneurysm while I was at school. I cam home only to find her on the floor next to her bed, unconscious. She is still alive, though her chances of living well are slim, and being productive.. That's not going to happen. My mom has had 4 heart attacks, a minor stroke, diabetes, breast cancer, by-pass surgery, and a slew of other operations I can't even think of. She has been smoking for 40+ years, and that added to the rest shows just how determined she is to live and how much of a trooper she is. But now, she is on the verge of death. And now the news in terms of my company, Morise Comics, and the book, Sarah: Americana; the book is now on hold, indefinitely. All plans have been put on holds, and a major reorganization of my life needs to be done now. At only 19, I've got to start taking care of myself and a slew of things my mom has. I am not bidding you all ado', nor am I quitting the biz of comics. But until things get straighten out, no new comics or comics talk from me for a while. I'll pop by and let everyone know what I'm up to, and I'll update how my mom is doing, well. So in your prayers, your chants, your rituals, what have you, please remember my mother, Judith West. I may joke around a lot about her, but I love her more than I can say. With a heavy heart, Larry West 3/14/04: Around 12:01 a.m. today, I got word that my mother was in need of more surgery. Sadly, this surgery was high risk and the chances of her leaving us were high, especially without it. So I agreed to let it happen, and I returned at 6:00 a.m., after a good 3 1/2-4 hours of sleep. At around 10:00 a.m., news came that the pressure in her brain had reached nearly 50 (And 20 is bad in itself!) and they may not be able to operate. If she even laid her head down, she could be.. gone. And then, a miracle. They were able to relieve the pressure in her head and perform the surgery on what we now know to be an aneurysm (And if I spelled that right, Uncle Hopper owes me a soda! ). It was successfully removed using a new surgery involving coils. She is now in a medicated coma to make sure that she doesn't wake up and make matters worst for her. And now the sad news. In terms of brain function.. From what they're saying, she won't be able to do any taxes this year, or maybe any other. So I'm not sure, nor do I wish to know, what this may leave her as right now. But I think the other hope and the other surprise in all this is what I did when she was most likely under the knife; I said a prayer with the residential nurse who specialized in counseling. The prayer was her idea, and with my father there, we all prayed. It was the first time in 4 years I ever prayed. Those who know me best know my feelings on praying, but I do subscribe to the thought process of thinking prayer, even on a symbolic level, can help. So for all those praying for her, please do so for the next 3 weeks if you can. It will be during this tuff time that will determine her faith. -Larry
